"I
waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted
me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a
rock and gave me a firm place to stand" -- Psalm 40:1-2 (NIV)
Recovery Stories ~
It is
God's will that we recover and use our pain as a means to promote
growth. This enables us to minister to those who too are suffering.
God wants to heal and help us, and He will as we open our life to
Jesus. Commit daily to trust Him to work in your heart and mind.

What
is Recovery?
Written by a Woman
in Recovery
Wearing
clothes I want because I feel comfortable, pretty, or sexy in them.
Admiring body
parts for their shape, curves, function.
Eating when
hungry and stopping when satisfied.
Going out
to restaurants and ordering what I want, not because I feel deprived or
because I feel I should be "good," but because I really want something.
Exercising
for the sheer fun of body movement. Sometimes eating more for comfort
or other reasons, and sometimes eating less.....but being aware of why.
Being happy with my body even if I'm not at the size I think I should
be at.
Enjoying where
I am now and enjoying the process of learning to change what I want to
change. Dressing for myself only...not to please anyone else.
Talking about
subjects other that food, size, or diets with other women. Not wondering
if other people don't like me because of my body size because I am more
than a size.
I am a compassionate,
caring, intelligent, energetic, loving, playful, artistic woman.
And recovery
for me, with my history of Binge Eating Disorder, is sometimes forgetting
about food altogether because I am living my life.
Inside
Out
The Lord works from the inside out. The world
works from the outside in.
The world would take people out of the slums. Christ takes the slums
out of people,
And they take themselves out of the
slums.
The world would mold men by changing their environment,
Christ changes men who then change
their environment.
The world would shape human behavior, but Christ can change human
nature.
