"My Heart Goes Out"

God is my strength and power: and He maketh my way perfect. He maketh my feet like hinds' feet: and setteth me upon my high places. -- 2 Samuel 22:33

Multiple Addictions and Disorders

It is not uncommon to be struggling with one or more addictions and/or disorders. Many persons with addictive disorders grew up in a dysfunctional family setting, and may need additional recovery from codependency, or sexual abuse, or other. Here are some real-life scenarios:
  1. I have many disorders in which I replace one with another, eating, sex, fasting, and alcohol. Is this common for a bulimic, anorexic, or alcoholic? -- Anonymous
  2. I restrict my food and when I'm not doing that I am cutting myself, or doing drugs, or sleeping. -- Jessica
  3. I'm bulimic and I binge drink, and I just realized that I also use sex for the wrong reason..... I don't know if it's the same reason you do or not, but I use sex to find love - Tiff
  4. I have multiple disorders. I have a very hard time with Major depression, PTSD, Bulimia, Binge Drinking, cutting, and self-harm other than cutting. I am having a very hard time right now. And I am trying to stay out of the hospital this holiday season. -- Donna
  5. When I am eating right it is because I am extremely sexually active. As a teen I ate when I was drinking alcohol. I have PTSD, OCD, depression and several physical health issues.
  6. I'm bulimic, Bipolar, and border line personality. And those are the only one's that have been diagnosed -- 'Country Girl'
  7. I'm recovering from OCD. My 'obsession' was being perfect or 'the best and most'. Basically my OCD let to panic attacks, anorexia and several self-harm and suicide attempts -- A
  8. Acceptance in recovery does not mean I have to accept "unacceptable behavior." In recovery I have choices. No longer do I have to accept abuse in any form. I can choose to walk away, even if it means stepping out into the unknown. I no longer have to fear "change" or the unknown. I can merely accept it as part of the journey.

A note about drug addiction: Columbia has 42 million people and is the leading producer of coca (which is used to create cocaine) in the world. They supply 90% of the cocaine to the United States, and the majority of all cocaine to the world abroad. There has been a 15% decrease in coca production since 2001, and a 25% decrease in opium. Pray that the government would have continued success to combat the drug cartels, and that the people would be spared from the violence that this conflict causes
