The
Bible was not given to increase our knowledge, but to change
lives -- D.L. Moody
The
mission of Olive Branch Outreach is to glorify the Lord Jesus
Christ, and make Him known by equipping those in need of healing
by providing hope, enouragement and resources.
- To bring the Gospel of Lord
Jesus Christ to people seeking recovery and wholeness in
their lives, and attract others to a belief in God, Jesus
Christ and the Holy Spirit.
- To glorify the Lord Jesus
Christ, and to make Him known by
providing biblical truth, information and helpful resources
to those in need of healing in order that balance may be
restored.
- To
understand that dependence on God does not mean losing yourself.
It means letting go of the old self and becoming a new creation
through Jesus Christ. The Father has a purpose and a plan
for your life if you allow Him to be Lord.
Belief
~
The
sole basis of belief is the Bible, which is uniquely God-inspired,
without error, and the final authority on all matters on which
it bears. As the Bible teaches, there is one God, eternally
existing in three persons Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
each possessing all the attributes of Deity.
God
created humans to have fellowship with Him, but they defied
God by sinfully going their own way. As a result, we need
God's saving grace to end our alienation from Him. Salvation
comes only through God's saving grace not human effort
and must be received personally by repentance and faith.
Jesus
Christ, second Person of the Trinity, lived a sinless life
on earth and voluntarily paid for our sin by dying on the
cross as our substitute. This accomplishes salvation for all
who receive grace by trusting in Him alone. He rose from the
dead and is the only mediator between us and God. He will
return to earth to consummate history. At the end, everyone
will experience bodily resurrection and the judgment. Those
forgiven through Christ will enjoy eternal fellowship with
God.
The
ministry's role is to glorify God and serve those in need.
Your
Spirituality ~
Regardless of what spiritual path you follow, or even if you
are not "spiritual", we accept you. Although we
may disagree on spiritual issues, we are not here to convert
you. We believe it is God who changes hearts and fosters
healing, not people. We love, accept and want to help
you if you are hurting. Regardless of your beliefs, we have
all been hurt like you. And if that is all we have in common,
it is enough.
It
takes great effort to recover from an eating disorder - sometimes
years. If you don't think of yourself as religious, at least
acknowledge that you have a spiritual side. People with faith
are able to utilize God's strength, in addition to their own
strength, to recover. However you view God (some call Him
"Higher Power"), just know He can help you. He will
lead you to caring and loving people who can help you explore
your past and future recovery.
