Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits -- who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases -- Psalms 103:2-3 (NIV)

Jesus is Compassionate and Wants to Help You~

In the Bible, Jesus treated women with dignity and respect. He elevated them in a world where they were often mistreated. Does this sound like a person you might want to get to know? I encourage you to follow this short Bible study. Jesus' tenderness toward women in bondage is evident and remarkable. Jesus healed women who were hurting:

  1. Jesus displayed courage and tenderness in speaking to the Samaritan woman when it was contrary to cultural conventions. Read John 4:7-29
  2. Jesus' compassion was evident when He raised the widow of Nain's son (we don't know his name) from the dead. That son most likely was his mother's only means of support. Read Luke 7:11-17
  3. He healed the woman who suffered from bleeding for 12 years. Read Mark 5:25-34
  4. Jesus delivered the woman who had been unable to stand up straight for 18 years, even though He was criticized for performing this healing on the Sabbath. Read Luke 13:10-17
  5. Read John 8:1-11, about the woman caught in adultery.
  6. Read Luke 7:36-50, about the sinful woman who washed Jesus' feet with her tears and dried them with her hair.
  7. Read Mark 7:24-30, about the daughter of the Syrophoenician woman.
  8. Read Mark 1:29-31, about Peter's mother-in-law.
  9. When Jesus was suffering such agony on the cross, he was concerned for his mother's welfare and requested John to take care of her. Read 19:26-27
Women were also prominently featured in Jesus' ministry.
